TOOTHWORT

The woodland vampire
fleshy fingers haunt
this hazel coppice

A rapist, breeding
in its coffin-soil
this blanket of leaves

You are elusive
cryptic, teeth and nails
of the carnivore

We are hunting you
walking the grid for
you, recording you

Your white meat moving
from tree to tree, from
one world to the next
